apanaveda - the knowledge of stillness
Pranayama ~ starting with sectional breathing we will open the space in the lungs ready for rhythm breathing. These rhythms extend the space between the breaths with internal and external retentions producing a harmonising affect psychologically and will balance and calm the nervous system in preparation for meditation.
Asanas ~ gentle postures to relax and open the body to feel the flow of Prana through the energetic body. We will work with mindful awareness to focus on each part of the body to really ‘feel’ the movement & breath working together.
Mindfulness Meditation ~ with guidance, mindful meditation practise assists you to detach from the constant chatter of the mind, allowing space to breathe and ‘just be’. This awakens a sense of mental clarity and inner stillness; alleviating anxiety to enhance concentration and memory.
Yoga Nidra ~ is a powerful technique in ‘conscious’ relaxation. It is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. It is the state between wakefulness and sleep (alpha brainwaves) where the powerful subconscious mind can open up the third eye and take the consciousness beyond the conditioned personality with its tensions and complexities to reach divine bliss.
